My professional relationship with Lalli Singh commenced in 1994, when I bought from him and re-sold to him an Enfield motorcycle. I subsequently established my company, Ferris Wheels Motorcycle Safaris (www.ferriswheels.com.au) , which has grown into an internationally-acclaimed adventure travel operator. For more than ten years, Lalli Singh has been providing us with motorcycles and mechanical support for all our tours in India and Nepal, sometimes for groups of 20 or more riders. All bikes supplied are in tip-top condition, and all services provided are first class. I look forward to continuing our relationship with Lalli Singh and Inder Motors for the next ten years! Lalli Singh is so infamous in Indian and International motorcycle
circles, that he regularly features in articles about travel in India
across the world. He is so well known that he is now featured in Guide
Books and was last seen on an inflight tourism commercial with Virgin
airlines. If there is any person that you want on the ground to manage
and advise on logistics, motorcycles and travelling in Asia then he
is your first and last stop. Lalli Singh keeps abreast with all our
plans, itineraries and logistics and works intensively in the set
up operations for each tour, particularly with the Royal Enfields
and the support crew. He is a who understands both western travellers
and tour members wishes and needs, has an incredible and unsatiable
passion for motorcycling and whose manner and behaviour of an English
gentleman delights many who drink chai (tea) and talk with him

Subject: Re: [Enfield] Exporting Enfield, India to UK
Yes, I would definately use Lalli Singh-he shipped my 350 back to
the UK for about $200-I also filled the crate with inexpensive Indian
spares-at no extra shipping cost. The bike arrived as promised and
properly crated. You must have an exchange certificate for the amount
covering everything you ship back-so don't throw anything away or
use the black market to get your rupees. You may want to consider
a few things before you ship: It cost me around 500 pounds sterling
in import duties and custom fees. This with the hassle of registering
it brings the price up close to a bike purchased in the UK.. Contact
your local DMV before you go to find out about how to register it.I
believe all bikes now need to have a type inspection-which is expensive.
I avoided this by qualifying under personal import status-but this
might have changed as of May. I would either buy an old Bullet-restored
by Lalli Singh to avoid MOT and probably the new type certifications
like EU emmissions-or the new clean burn model.I think the 500 recycles
the exhaust to the airbox now so that might be OK-I know somebody
I met in India exported and registered a 500,but said it was a bit
laden with red tape...... I imported mine because I had become attached
to it after riding around India for 6 months. You could rent a Bullet
and ride for 4 weeks(Lalli will rent you a bike) -The Itinerary suggested
i.e:Delhi-Agra-Fatehpur Sikri and a few towns in Rajasthan is the
way to go on a short trip.Buy a Lonely Planet India-Lalli Singh is
in it too.

The legendary Enfield 500cc Bullet is one of many examples in India
of older, appropriate technology prevailing in the modern world. Basically,
it is a 1955 model, modified over the years for Indian conditions,
sporting 12v coil ignition and twin leading shoe front brakes. At
present, the Enfield factories, one in Madras and another in Jaipur
turn out 30,000 Bullets annually and export around 900. Both our tours
include an opportunity to visit one of the factories. Bullets have
good positive handling and suspension and a maximum speed of around
110kph . The reality of riding on Indian roads is that 80 kph is more
than fast enough in most conditions and 50-60 is a realistic cruising
speed, and the bikes have ample power at these speeds. This, combined
with an unsurpassed ruggedness, make these bikes ideal for India's
sometimes challenging road conditions. We have several bikes on Waiheke
available for loan to confirmed clients for familiarisation. The bikes
used on our tours are all less than five years old, well maintained
and rented on your behalf from Inder Motors in New Delhi. Lalli Singh
is the owner and operator of Inder Motors, a dealership which has
an international reputation for preparing first class motorcycles
for both extensive touring in India and for export. He and his team
of mechanics supply bikes for ours and several other touring operations
and regularly prepare motorcycles for the arduous overland journey
to Europe. Before each tour each bike is thoroughly overhauled and
tested, and they are checked by our mechanic after every riding day
during the tour. Being passionate bikers ourselves, we know that there
is nothing worse than a poor machine on a tour and we are fanatical
about getting the bikes right. All tours are followed by a back up
vehicle which carries the mechanic and spares. This vehicle also doubles
as a luggage carrier so that the bikes are not overloaded. There are
also limited places for non bikers to accompany us on tour in this
vehicle. In case of temporary sickness, a rider and bike can be transported
in the support vehicle
